My Scottish fantastic grandfather's front hall entry table, from a minimum of 1900, likely earlier. Made use of in Urbana Illinois, then came east in 1940's. At widest it is 35" by 24" and 28.5" high. There are no markings on the bottom to show anything about the maker. I also have the extremely heavy round mirror that was hung above this according to family image cds; if you are interested let me know. It can be made use of as a desk surface area for a woman. It is in good condition however needs some focus on the top and the finish is a bit wobbly from the legs. It may have been refinished in the 1970s (granny was on a kick to make all the wood in your house appearance like her preferred maple). I am noy a specialist and can not tell you exactly what type of wood it is. It isn't pine and it isn't veneered. There is a one edge that has obvious cup rings, and from some angles and lighting you can see where the boards were signed up with (appear not to be a strong top, or it has a very straight split).
