Original fabric but springs recently broke. In my family about or over 100 years. Probably from New York up state area or even Toronto. Lovely detail in all the wood work. Carving adds lots of detail. One peice at bottom of seat is off but I have it and could be easily be replaced. Only selling because of move to out of state to smaller home. Will consider offers especially if interested in matching chair.
