This Antique Harmonica was made in Germany, probably about 1904. It still has a lovely tone and is in fair to good condition cosmetically with some rust and flaking of chrome. Schutz-Marre/Sport. I believe it to be in the key of C (mark is difficult to read and it may be a D). A collectible harmonica.If you like stories to go with your antiques, this instrument has one. It belonged to my grandmother, Clara Lang, who was born in Nuremburg, Germany, in 1889. She was very musical and also played the violin and the piano. But she was Jewish and, in 1939, when she fled her homeland, she was unable to bring her violin. Her grand piano had already been confiscated by an SS officer. This harmonica was the only musical instrument that would fit into her small suitcase. She traveled with it, first to England, then across the Atlantic to New York, and finally to California where she settled in 1943.
