When I bought this desk, I was informed it was an educator's desk. It is in excellent condition, I expect was built in between 1870-1885. There was a newer lock in the long drawer when I acquired it, however no key. I had actually a key produced it so the long drawer can now be locked. The "fretwork" wood detail on the back is in great condition. It reasonably light for its size and fits with regular interior doors.
