Nice painting by Thomas Benjamin Pope (1834-1891) an American 19th Century painter and a well known Hudson River School artist. Oil on canvas, signed T.B. Pope at bottom left.This 16x20” canvas painting has a stable overall craquelure to the surface and at some time was smoothly laid down onto artist board. The period wood frame has age appropriate wear.In the proper light, this painting displays absolutely beautifully!The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art featured Thomas Benjamin Pope's work in the past.
