This beautiful antique violin will be a show stopper for sure! It was made by Josef Konvalinka in 1893 in Mason City, Iowa and is signed on the inside. I found a newspaper article once that said he was a gunsmith by trade. There are only 2 others that I have been able to find by Josef Konvalinka. One was sold at auction back in 2016 and the other was sold by Probus Violins and you can listen to that one being played on youtube at the link at the bottom of the page.The back is absolutely gorgeous and the neck elegantly carved. As a fiddle or a violin it is sure to steal the show. I can only image how it will sound when restored to its former glory. Don't miss the chance to own this beautiful piece of music making history. As with most any violin of this age it is in need of some restoration and will be well worth it. One peg is missing and there are two hairline cracks on the front of it and it needs restrung. Other than that I couldn't tell you as I really don't much about violins. The case has seen it's better days but the violin will be shipped in it more for protection than anything.
