Prototype custom, my latest creation. I call this my "Deluxe Bronze" model. There is nothing out there that looks or sounds like this horn!This model is a custom version of CarolBrass best selling professional model, the “5000L”.I am a CarolBrass authorized dealer for 12 years now. I specialize in custom CarolBrass trumpet orders. I ordered this as a "custom" horn to my specs. I was after a trumpet that was visually more exciting with the 92% copper Phosphorus Bronze Bell AND their copper plating with lacquer combination. I also was after a nicer, fuller sound with more overtones. Well … When I ordered this trumpet, CarolBrass advised me that they could build it, however, they would have to copper plate the ENTIRE horn including the bell. No … I didn't want the copper plating over the Bronze bell since the bell itself looks amazing, and sonically I didn't want to affect the natural sound of the bronze material. The problem being that attaching the non plated bell to the rest of the copper plated instrument would be difficult, and they could not guarantee this procedure without any flaws. (They had not done this before. ) But after hounding them, In about 1 week CarolBrass finally accepted my custom order and this horn is the result. This is a prototype custom horn. It is factory new and carries the standard manufacturer's warranty. Due to this being a prototype experimental custom build, the horn does have a small soldering flaw or 2. See photos. I don't think this detracts from the overall looks of the horn.On this professional horn build I chose a larger #72 bell flare and larger diameter 5 1/4" bell made of 92% copper phosphorous bronze material for a warm glorious sound. This horn plays so nice... a great soloist horn. Great for legit classical playing. It blends well in a sectional or orchestra situation. Nice warmth and overtones from this one of a kind horn. If you are playing commercial or lead, this horn may tone you down a bit so that you are not able to peel the paint off the back walls or make their ears bleed, (maybe that's a good thing) but OHH .. you will sound ever so good ! You can PUSH this horn and have fantastic projection but never have to worry about being too bright, harsh, or brassy. Upper range is great, I can easily get my top range high G. If you utilize a deep cup mouthpiece and this horn takes on an almost Flugel sound.I just received this horn and did a 1 hour test QC play of this horn this afternoon. Oh man... do you want a horn that is just full, big, bold, and projecting? Glorious full sound, overtones ... not overly bright brassy sound ?? Aside from the fact this is not just a gorgeous one of a kind horn, it will make your legit orchestra solos sound like a million bucks. If playing lead …. Stand on it for a gorgeous lead sound that punches thru! Fantastic horn! Not only a stunning player, but a stunning looker! You will be the envy of your section!
