I have a Classical Guitar Performance degree from DePaul University and have played in masterclasses of Oscar Ghiglia, Robert Guthrie, Liona Boyd, Mark Maxwell and Anne Waller. MY GUITARThis instrument has been my main guitar for the last 10 years. I purchased it from a Canadian classical guitarist 10 years ago and have used it in my studio ever since. It was used for practicing, for live performances, and for a variety of recording projects.LORIENTE COMPANY BACKGROUNDLoriente was a guitar company from Spain that operated in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, in cooperation with Cordoba guitars. The Loriente line was considered the superior brand to Cordoba, the same way a Lexus is superior to a Toyota, but the two companies work in cooperation. The yellow label Loriente guitars are from the earlier production (80s and 90s) and do not have a truss rod. The Loriente company no longer builds instruments so these instruments are in high demand.REASON FOR SELLINGI am selling the guitar because I want to try something different. I have many guitars in my studio, but I usually keep two top classical guitars: one that is fully acoustic and one that is acoustic-electric. This Loriente guitar has been my main fully-acoustic classical instrument for about 10 years and I want to try something different for my top guitar.COSMETIC APPEARANCEThe instrument is in very good condition. Gorgeous looks throughout. The Spruce is bright and clean and the Rosewood is deep and dark. Beautiful binding throughout. There are some normal signs of usage because it’s been used in my studio and also, but there are no deep scratches or cracks. The inside label has a bit of a water stain on it - this was probably caused by using a soundhole humidifier at some point.WOOD IRREGULARITIESThe top has two wood-fiber irregularities. They are both under the lacquer finish and are NOT cracks. If you ever saw a Bear Claw (Carpathian) Spruce top on a guitar, these two irregularities are like that. They are not a sign of damage. They are simply wood-fiber irregularities and are not surface irregularities. Everything is tight and stable. The bridge is fully planted on the surface with no separation.SOUNDThis instrument sounds like butter! The trebles are clear and rounded, and the basses are clear and deep. There is great note separation throughout the full range of the instrument. I use D’Addario EJ45 strings and I use medium-length fingernails. I am very happy with the volume and the colors of the instrument. Also, if you play with an ensemble, the instrument will easily cut through the mix.DIMENSIONSThis is a full size classical guitar.The nut is 52mmHARDSHELL CASEI recently replaced the case for this guitar. I purchased a deluxe hardshell case for $180. The case is a perfect fit and I will include it with this purchase. See pictures.PRICEI am in no rush to sell this guitar. If it doesn’t sell, it’ll be a pleasure to keep it in my studio and keep playing/recording on it. Loriente no longer makes guitars and these instruments are hard to find, especially in good condition. The price reflects the quality, the rareness, and the sound/playability of the instrument. This particular instrument is quite comparable to a Cordoba Hauser guitar. I played both guitars and I would agree that they are quite comparable.
