My wife was a French horn player in the First US Army Band in the 1970's (Fort Meade, Maryland), and this is her 8D double Conn French horn. The horn's in very good condition; nine months ago we had disassembled, chemically flushed, lubed, re-stringed and had the dents removed from the bell and throat by Ward-Brodt Music in Wisconsin- a very reputable French horn shop! (See photo of receipt.) The horn looks great and plays superbly. On the bell is etched “CG CONN LTD USA”. Her parents purchased it for her new in 1972, and it's serial number is R34719 (the R serial numbers for Conn were all 1972). The case is in good condition, with all latches working and new rubber feet. Comes with a mute, as seen in the photos. Lots of great memories for her with this horn, that performed in US Army concerts, military ceremonies, parades. But none of our grandchildren have expressed interest in playing it, so she decided to sell it to a new home so that it can give someone else some great memories.
