F. E. Olds & Sons Silver Nickle Plated Double French Horn – in Very Good Condition - Ready for New Owner This is an F. E. Olds & Sons Nickle Plated Silver “Kruspe Wrap” Double French Horn Fullerton, CA – Refurbished!!! Accessories: Comes with a hardshell case and a brand-new French horn mouthpiece. Condition: This instrument is in Very Good condition: It has minor scratches, dings, and dents. The nickel plate finish shows very few signs of wear and the finish is in excellent condition. Plus, there is no corrosion on this instrument whatsoever. The inner workings of the horn are excellent. All of the braces are secure, all of the tuning slides and valves move freely, the bell is nice and straight, and the lead pipe is in good condition. The horn looks good and sounds even better. Serial number (758011). It is in fine working order but has some cosmetic imperfections. It is extremely playable and fully functional. Serviced and Repaired: This horn has been stripped down, chem cleaned, slides and valves were removed, ultrasonically cleaned, and then brushed. Slides were buffed and valves were brushed back to original brass (soft brass brush and water – so as to not damage the valves themselves.) Everything was then reoiled, greased, and reassembled. (See pictures of the actual process.) New strings were installed and paddles were adjusted. Dents were taken out of the bell tubing and the lead pipe was repaired – brass casing solder. Playability: It has been checked for playability: It plays beautifully. It has good compression, the slides are not too loose and not too tight, and all of the valves function wonderfully. Manufacture Description: The F E Olds & Son double French Horn is in the key of F and Bb. Designed to enable a player to perform advanced passages, this horn is suitable for the advancing student.
