After 30 years as a farrier I have put shoes on thousands of horses.Some horses do require shoes but the majority do not. Barefoot horses are more sound,perform better and have overall healthier hooves.The vast majority of horses can be transitioned over to bare footed living by proper trimming and simple conditioning.Back yard horses,trail horses,dressage, and even jumpers can become barefoot and excel in their activities.
