Kawai is one of the famous Japanese Piano builders who specialize in fine craftsmanship and a warm rich tone in their pianos. Favored by conservatories and teachers around the world, Kawai has created their reputation based on their deep understanding of European piano building and partnerships with famous makers like Ibach and now Steinway. Kawai builds the Boston Pianos for Steinway and this endorsement should say enough about their quality of manufacture. This piano was manufactured in late 1995 in the Hamamatsu factory in Japan. It was purchased new in Buffalo at Roger's Pianos & Clocks on January 31, 1997. The current model is the 5'5" RX-1 that lists for over $30,000. The RX line was rescaled from the KG series incorporate the design features of the handmade R-O and then the R-1. This piano was voiced in the German manner and regulated to concert specifications to produce a piano sounding more like a fine German instrument rather than a Japanese piano.
