La Cañada Model 17 SP/GR Nylon String Classical GuitarDeveloped by guitar maker Edmund Blöchinger and guitar/tonewood expert Wolfgang Jellinghaus, the La Canada models are based on the famous Torres originals, also known as the "Stradivari of guitar making".La Canada guitars are created in a small workshop in China by experienced guitar builders with care and according to the time-honoured rules of the art of guitar making.Only CITES-free woods of high quality are used for the construction. All instruments are sealed with a shellac hand polish.The "Model 17" is based largely on an 1864 Torres, known as "FE 17" - the earliest of Tarrega’s 3 Torres instruments that he would play throughout his career – this is a charming, first-epoch style guitar with a slightly more compact body size and shorter scale length. Its smaller size and lightweight build is a bit deceptive at first – but once you pluck the first note, it has a huge sound, very full and robust with great lyrical charm in the trebles and fat basses - rich in overtones across the entire register. Startlingly easy to play, the comfortable neck shape and fast response make this a true players guitar.This specific guitar has a few small finger nail marks, and the Spruce top has some 'Bear Claw' or 'Hazelfichte' sections (wave in the wood grain) below the bridge and on the top right (check photos), otherwise it's in excellent shape. It's quite loud for its' smaller size, plays beautifully, and very light weight. This guitar retails new around $3000 USD. I'm relisting this since I now have 2 other luthier made classical guitars and I'd like to replace this one with a steel string acoustic.
