Marion Butler Ewald (1910-1944) oil on canvas impressionist painting of men harvesting wheat. Painting measures 18" by 20"; framed 23.5" by 25.5". Unsigned but purchased with a group of Ewald paintings deaccessioned from a Connecticut museum. Bears Pennsylvania Academy Chester Springs estate stamp on reverse. This painting is particularly interesting because it reflects modernist influence. Ewald was a student at the Pennsylvania Academy in the 1920s, studying with Daniel Garber, among others.
