Great pastel or grease stick painting of crowded beach with umbrellas and lounge chairs by Walter E Cohen (1912- 2004), a Baltimore native who studied at Maryland Institute College of Art. Painting measures 11" by 13.5". Bears artist's estate stamp on reverse. Nice colorful image with strong modernist elements. Excellent condition. Purchased with group of paintings from the artist's estate. Cohen was a longtime resident of Bergen County NJ, born in 1912 in Baltimore and was an honorary graduate of the Maryland Institute of Art. He was involved in advertising, fine art and was also a writer.
