OVATION FOLKLORE MODEL 1114. This is the difficult to find Ovation Folklore 1114. Now that Ovation has actually closed their American plant there will disappear American made Ovations. The Kaman company made these in the mid '70s to the very early '80s. The folk scene, wherein all the guitar players seemed to choose 12 fret slotted headstock guitars kind of peaked in the very early to mid '70s. Ovation got into the scene rather late. The only competitors appears to have been the Martin "S" series of 12 fretters. And they cost rather a bit more than the Ovation. This one has a beautiful aged spruce top with a deep bowel back. It has high quality 3-per-side slotted headstock tuners. The 1114 was produced from 1972-1983. From the serial number this one was made in 1981. The guitar is nearly flawless, the action is best, and now it's nearly 35 + years old. And it has that gorgeous sound that only comes from an old, well experienced spruce leading. I've spent for an existing Blue Book examination of this guitar. They say in exceptional condition it would cost approximately $675. This one is in almost brand-new condition. There are no structural issues, inspect the photos of the saddle height and 12th fret action. The neck is ramrod directly. The only little fault I can find is a really slight lacquer crack as revealed in the image. This prevails on old guitars. The fracture runs throughout the grain and is just in the lacquer. This is easily repaired if any individual would wish to bother doing so. The wood itself has no cracks, splits or dents noticeable. This one can be yours for $650 with a brand new $100+ black Ovation hardshell case included. Or if you really want the utmost, I have a 1970's mint condition uncommon brown case and a really unusual mint condition Ovation case cover. Early Ovation guitars originally can be found in the brown case. This case replacement will certainly include an extra $100. For $750 you will certainly get one of the rarest vintage Ovations with a like new 35 year old case and case cover! You buy this and you will have a guitar that the Ovation Museum would envy.
