This antique Empire library cabinet / bookcase would make a beautiful addition to your house or workplace! It's spacious interior has eight racks that can be made use of to hold your favorite books or antiques. (There are 6 adjustable shelves and the bottom shelves.) It is solid ribbon mahogany with "flashier" strong ribbon mahogany sides and feet. The cabinet has it's initial wooden back and initial wavy glass in the doors, which are lockable with the secret. The doors shut by themselves and do not have to be locked as the locks are a bit tight while locking. It appears that this piece was hand made and it has been dated by an antiques expert between 1890 and 1910, but was informed it might be as early as 1880.The back has a small 2" x 2" patch, but it is not noticeable from the inside as one of the racks covers it. I can supply images if needed. It does not change the charm of the cabinet one bit!This sensational piece has been beautifully restored and doned with a hand scrubed wax finish leaving the fantastic patina and gorgeous initial wood tones.
