I play trumpet and cornet with a municipal brass band still. I have reached critical mass in my collection and will be selling a few horns at a time. This auction includes the trumpet, with Bb and A leadpipes, case, and mouthpiece. My little devil is not included! ;^)This horn was built by Andy Taylor in London. I do not know the vintage definitively, but it has serial number 413XX which I think makes it around 2007, meaning it has Bauerfiend valves. I have had thi honr for about 4 years, and taken very good care of it, but have not really found much need for it. I was hoping for dark, cool sound, and this has it all over! But, since I really only play concert band and Brass Band groups, I can't justify keep this great horn. This horn does play great, and while it can knock down walls, you won't be peeling the paint!! It keeps a big dark sound, not matter how hard you blow. But this horn weighs about half again as any other horn, and can be tiring to hold up for a 2 hour rehearsal, if you are in your 70's like me!!CONDITION: This instrument is in functionally and cosmetically excellent condition. Valve compression and slide fit is what you would expect right off the shelf. There are some very small ripples in the lower bell bow, but nothing at all that affects the playing.CASE: The case is a very nice Gard leather double case. The case has plenty of room and wheels.MOUTHPIECE: A Taylor mouthpiece with a very good cup, and shank is included. There is an overstamp on the mouthpiece, so I don't know the size, but the horn works great with it. I feel the cup size is close to a Bach 5B.Shipping: Shipping in the continental US will be actual UPS Ground Cost. As a knowledgeable and experienced amateur, I have a lower cost of operation than a commercial enterprise, and can keep my costs low. You can see from my eBay rating that I have been careful to insure that I only supply quality instruments, and inspect, prepare, and describe them properly. I have thoroughly inspected this instrument, replaced the felts and corks and aligned the valves as needed, and made sure that it plays properly, and has proper tone for your beginner. I have cleaned the instrument thoroughly, polished all slides to prevent corrosion from locking the slides and valves, and properly lubricated the instrument with high quality lubricant. Finally, I have been asked whether this is recommended as a student instrument, and I can say that these instruments have been highly rated by many teachers for beginners and advanced players, but I suggest that anyone buying an instrument for a younger student ask his or her teachers if they agree with that brand. Many teachers do have preferences, and this can affect a student's progress. I will, however, flatly state that many of the "bargain basement" new instruments from the unknown manufacturers (even when they are branded, you may not know who made them) are inferior. Parts for repair, or even the repairs themselves are not available, due to odd pieces, or inferior materials. Internal dimensions and correct alloys are critical on all musical instruments. A shiny (or odd colored) instrument with inferior playing qualities will soon discourage even the most eager student. THIS INSTRUMENT IS SOLD AS IS. THIS DESCRIPTION IS AS ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE.
