Description:

IF THE AD IS UP, ITS STILL AVAILABLE! A definitely spectacular Victorian Rogers Smith Co. / Meriden Quadruple plate Tea Set. I say Rogers Smith Co. / Meriden due to the fact that Meriden combined with Rogers Bros. together with numerous other silver business's in 1863. Each business kept their own makers mark according to exactly what manufacturing facility it was made at, yet being possessed by Meriden. All of the pieces except one are marked Rogers Smith Co. The extra sugar bowl is marked Meriden. There are 7 pieces total, including the really RARE and huge 32 inch matching Serving Tray! The pattern is called Japanesque (Japonisme) by John Jepson. This service's pattern was among Meriden's all time traditional designs and displays that distinct asian style so popular throughout the 1870's with it's diagonal, unbalanced banding and delicate, tracking foliage. The unusual curled deals with and stylish fan finial are extra gorgeous functions. The pieces are in great antique condition with small areas of plate loss consistent with everyday use. None of these problems are glaring and the set still looks beautiful and remarkable as is.All 7 pieces including the tray are all structurally sound and there have actually been no repair works. The teapot's cover hinge is tight and intact. Both insulators are likewise undamaged. The Tray is a big 19 x 32 inches deal with to deal with, just beautiful! It is stamped Rogers Smith Co. New Haven Conn with the numbers 4 and 26. Patented Nov 12 1867. It is inscribed to J.E. Howard in a lovely script. It was provided J.E. Howard who worked for the Detroit, Lansing & Lake Michigan Railroad and his brand-new bride as a wedding gift. There are 3 small indents in the tray, however does not modify the showing of this piece. The Tea set itself is simply stunning! Each piece is stamped Rogers Smith Co, New Haven, Conn. 1893. other than the extra sugar bowl/spooner, it is stamped Meriden B business 1893. The Urn is really significant in size and measures 16" tall from foot to finial, 111/2" large deal with to manage and 91/2" throughout from back to spigot. The Urn includes the really unusual burner and a wick. Generally, great condition inside and out with typical wear. Tea/Coffee Pot is 11? high by 101/4 large with the cover undamaged. The waste bowl is 5? x 6 inches. This is a rare find! It could also function as a condiment bowl. The creamer is 6in high by 61/8, deal with to spout with the lid intact. There are 2 sugar bowls consisted of. They determine 9? by 7?. Neither of these have covers. I'm unsure they had any. One is stamped Rogers Smith Co. 1893 and one is stamped Meriden B Company 1893. This set has been in my possession for over 40+ years and has actually been adoringly looked after.(Note: IT DOES NEED TO BE RE-POLISHED AGAIN). There is also a partial set displayed in the Mark Twain Museum in Hartford, CT. This is a choice up only, UNLESS YOU WANT IT SHIPPED, AND I WILL GET A QUOTE FROM UPS. Priced at $450.00.
