Vintage French Besson Flugelhorn- Made in Paris, France- Serial # 89,xxx; dates to approximately 1930; Pre War I had bought this as a parts horn for the leadpipe and finger buttons, but, in my opinion, it's WAY too nice to be a parts horn. Also, I don't believe the leadpipe (inner/outer) is original. It takes a Bach taper mouthpiece, as opposed to an original French straight taper.There are flaws throughout: Dings and light dents, plating wear, a patch on the outer 1st slide tube, and other signs of repair. Valves look to be original unplated, and compression is just average (typical for unplated), with the first and second being slightly better than the third.The horn does play quite well on most notes, and has a very light, sweet tone. A few valve combinations get a bit wonky and lose center, but it's only on certain partials. Those same valve combinations can work just fine in a different partial/register. There may be a pinhole or slide tube leak that I haven't found. The horn is just about 100 years old, so it's par for the course. -Case is included, though the latches are broken. -No Reserve Auction, though I will leave a "make offer" option for fair offers.SHIPPING: FREE to USA w/UPS Ground or USPS.
