Buy It Now! 1977 Factory Gibson RD Artist Headstock Overlay w/Trussrod Cover - All Original For sale is a Gibson RD Artist headstock overlay with original Trussrod Cover from a 1977 Gibson RD Artist. This overlay was carefully removed from a 1977 RD Artist with a broken neck over 20 years ago before the reproduction overlays were even created and being sold online. This is not a reproduction overlay. This is a Gibson Factory Original RD Artist overlay with the original Trussrod Cover made in the last half of 1977. The Gibson RD series guitars were introduced in the last half of 1977 and this Overlay is 46 years old in excellent condition. There is no glue stuck to the back, it is not warped, all nitro finish has been safely removed and any imperfections can be seen in the pics. Please look closely and ask any questions before you decide to buy. I also have two of the rare RD Artist 5-0-5 knobs for sale in another listing that were removed from the same guitar. If you want to purchase everything together, they will be shipped in the same package, just let me know. The reproduction RD Atrist overlays I bought in the past when they first came out were not quite correct. The Flying F Note MOP was not accurate, the black and white binding was slightly different and it was very noticeable. This overlay is the real deal as has the original Gibson Factory Trussrod Cover included in this sale. The repro Gibson Overlays they sell as real Gibson parts usually go for $200.00+, the repro Gibson Custom overlays are selling around $300.00 and real Gibson Custom overlays are hitting $400.00+ all without a trussrod cover but most of the time you can find them for sale online. I've been buying and selling online since 2003 and I've never seen a Factory Gibson RD Artist overlay for sale in 20+ years looking for them so this is likely a once in a lifetime find. These parts are only being sold due to a recent surgery in the family. Like everything else medical costs have gone up and are quite expensive otherwise I would not be selling these items.
