In its hay-day there were 10,000 rail cars delivering letters all over the country. Each custom car built for sorting the mail along the railroad tracks. Several types of mail sorters were used, both wood and steel. What I have here are 4 antique steel mail sorters, direct from Pullman Rail cars. Pullman first manufactured luxury passenger cars but after the collapse of the Stock Market in 1929, passenger travel was greatly decreased. This forced Pullman along with many other railways to "rethink" the use of their rail cars. The delivery of mail was just the answer for many. These antique mail sorters can now be yours!
